What the CAEN recodification service includes

Why doesn't CAEN Rev.2 always convert 1-to-1 into CAEN Rev.3?
The move to CAEN Rev.3 does not, in every situation, mean the automatic replacement of an old code with a single new one. Depending on the activity, a CAEN Rev.2 code can:
- have a direct counterpart in CAEN Rev.3;
- have a changed name;
- be split into several codes;
- be included in a different category;
- require choosing the code based on the activity actually performed.
In situations where several possible counterparts exist, the specific activity of the PFA or the company must be analysed.
That is why simply looking up a Rev.2 → Rev.3 correspondence table does not solve every situation.

SRL
Companies with activity codes registered under the old classification.
PFA
Authorised sole traders who must update their activities according to CAEN Rev.3.

The update concerns professionals registered with the Trade Register whose activities must be expressed according to the CAEN Rev.3 classification.
What is the deadline for the CAEN Rev.3 update?
The general deadline of the update period is 25 September 2026. By this date, the registered activity codes must be expressed according to the CAEN Rev.3 classification.
